ABSTRACT

The main objective of this research was to study the potential of human hair reinforced epoxy composites in the field of sound absorption. Properties of human hair were studied to utilize them effectively. Properties of vinyl ester epoxy were studied to use as best adhesive agent. Human hair epoxy composites were fabricated using hand layup and compression moulding technique. It was compressed to a load of 80 kg. The composites were successfully fabricated with 30 wt.% of fiber load and with varying lengths (5, 10, 15, 20mm). Flexural strength, after flame time and sound absorption coefficient of resulting composites were investigated.
