ABSTRACT

In the current scenario, refrigeration is a vital element in our living environment, which includes household purposes, industrial application, medical field, defence sector etc. The most commonly used system for refrigeration is Vapor absorption refrigeration system (VARS) and Vapor compression refrigeration system (VCRS). But, these systems have a wide range of environmental impacts like leakage of refrigerant which may be poisonous and its global warming potential (GWP), is about 140 to 11700 times that of carbon dioxide. Also, refrigerant leakage affects the energy efficiency of a refrigerator. It has higher power consumption which leads to scarcity of electricity in the country. There are a lot of regions in India, where electric current supply is not available. So as a solution we can introduce solar-powered thermoelectric refrigerator which uses Peltier effect. This technology can resolve the problems in the current refrigeration system upto a great extent.
