ABSTRACT

A multi-objective particle swarm optimization (MOPSO) technique has been employed in this chapter to solve economic scheduling, environmental scheduling, and both economic and environmental dispatch (EED) problem considering both economic and environmental issues. Different types of particle swarm optimization (PSO) techniques have been employed, and a comparison study has been done. This chapter also proposes an analytical strategy using PSO techniques which gives better outcome than other techniques. A four-bus system with six generators of three plants has been used in this study considering transmission power loss. The results show that among different PSO techniques, hierarchical particle swarm optimisation (HPSO) gives the best result.
