ABSTRACT

This chapter covers many of the technical considerations that go into creating realistic or aesthetically pleasing sex. Special attention is given to the issues of sex scenes in 3D games and to the issues with uncanny valley, i.e., the strange and unnatural look of many 3D rendered characters. It also lists other concerns that 3D artists and developers have to consider, such as hair, sweat, and physical contact. Another section discusses the technical challenges of creating sex scenes in 2D games – reasonably easy for visual novels, but harder for RPGs or 2D platformers. It also briefly touches on other technical challenges such as haptic design, and VR. The chapter ends with more questions asking readers to identify technical challenges both for the existing game they’re analyzing and for the game sex scenes they’re planning to make.
