ABSTRACT
The monument preservation activity has not its target in itself, but it is rather a fundamentally important tool for building the past-based future for the society. It gives a huge responsibility to all the performers in this activity. A—not intended – “test-case situation” has emerged in Hungary over the last few years, when the state management virtually eliminated the professional monument preservation system.
