ABSTRACT

Lasia spinosa is a potent wild medicinal plant having potential to fight against various diseases. Main active phytochemicals found in this plant such as alkaloids, saponins, glycosides, tannins, phenolic compounds and flavonoids are used for several activity studies. The phytochemical activities reported are anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory, anti-helminthic, antioxidant, anti-diabetic, anti-hyperlipidemic and anti-tumor. This chapter illustrates the importance of the enthano-medicinal value of Lasia spinosa plants along with some scientific data which is showing phytochemical compounds of this plant to prove pharmacological values of the plant.
