ABSTRACT

Curcumin is widely used as a spice as well as coloring agent. It has also shown some clinical activities. Major drawback of curcumin is its poor solubility and less bioavailability. Encapsulation method of hydrophobic drug, curcumin, is found to be very effective to increase the solubility and bioavailability of curcumin. Water-soluble polymer biomaterials combined with curcumin in form of micelles, BSA nanoparticles, silver hydrogels, MMT formulation, polymer block have increased the loading capacity of drug and efficiency of drug-release encapsulation. They can be used as nanocarriers for hydrophobic drug in target drug delivery. These nanocarriers also increased the stability on surface as well as interior of nanoparticles. Release rate of drug is determined by the properties of polymer matrix of nanocarriers.
