ABSTRACT

Pessary management of genital prolapse and urinary incontinence represents an effective and nonsurgical solution that can be offered to any woman with genital prolapse who is either unable to undergo surgical repair or prefers to manage her symptoms without surgery. It has also been shown to improve anorectal symptoms and to generally improve quality of life. Pessary use requires commitment to care and follow-up by the patient and/or caregiver. It also requires the treating clinician to appropriately assess progress with the pessary and recommend timing of interval visits individualized to each patient.
