ABSTRACT
This chapter discusses several types of overvoltage and their causes. Earthing protection is also presented. The chapter discusses overvoltage due to external causes, for example, lightning, and internal causes, for example, faults on the system. The chapter describes a protection system for overvoltage and also proposes some numerical calculations that can provide an understanding of the significant concept in the framework of the smart grid for design.
