ABSTRACT

The detailed lining inspection system of Nippon Expressway Companies (collectively referred to as “NEXCO”) includes extraction of priority inspection points for each span according to records of lining development image photographing, assessment of health of the lining, and subsequent on-site proximity visual inspection of all lines. In this study, for a purpose of higher accuracy and advanced application of the lining inspections, we conducted trial tests to examine potentials of the lining image photographing record, which has been employed for assessment of health of the linings as an alternative method for visual inspection. As a result, we found that the desktop inspection with the lining development image photographing can be employed in place of visual inspection.
