ABSTRACT
The development of the technology in the tunnel industry is going faster than ever. Words like 3D, digitalization and BIM is more and more common. There is a difference between 3D and BIM, but these words are often mixed up. A BIM-model and a 3D-model looks the same, but the big difference is the “I”. This paper will look at some key benefits regarding the “I” in BIM. This paper will focus on how the project have used the “I” in BIM, and what benefits we have managed to utilize. For instance, the Bill of quantities and progress planning is created from the BIM-model. Other information such as cost, construction, geological interpretation, maintenance is also included in the model. This have become possible because we are using IFC and other open formats that carries information instead of formats like DWG.
