ABSTRACT

To improve quality and efficiency of all engineering services related to the detail design and construction engineering for Brenner Base Tunnel lot Mules II-III, BTC Contractor consortium and SWS have implemented BIM within the project. The tunnel consists of two main parallel single-track tubes that connect Innsbruck to Fortezza and of a central smaller test tunnel. All activities are supported by BIM adoption as tool for design, sharing and information check of the entire infrastructure facility. With this purpose, it has been possible to optimize costs and timing of design and construction work. Implementing innovative workflows, BIM utilities handled are concerning mainly following fields: advanced BIM modeling of structural and MEP parts with real constructive details, parametric segmental lining modelled, construction elements linked to planning schedule, automatic clash detection during design stage, mucking storage modelling, computational design with extensive use of programming software, automated modelling, automated procedures for drawings production.
