ABSTRACT

In this study, we have estimated Seismic Hazard Analysis of the Bhairabi Tunnel based on Probabilistic Fault Displacement Approach. We have proposed a new methodology for estimating site specific seismic hazard using Probabilistic Analysis of Fault Displacement method. The methodology for this approach is based on the Probabilistic Seismic Hazard Analysis (PSHA) with the ground motion prediction equation replaced by the Fault Displacement Prediction equation. The methodology for Probabilistic Fault Displacement Hazard Analysis (PFDHA) was developed for a strike-slip faulting environment and the probability distributions used in this study is based on the regional site specific tectonic set up and all others earthquakes related parameters. We have prepared a Fault Map around the Bhairabi Tunnel and based on this tectonic set up, we have estimated ground shaking parameters at the Bhairabi Tunnel located in the North East India (NEI) using PFDHA. The estimated ground shaking parameters will be very much useful in design the engineering structures like the Bairabi Tunnel.
