ABSTRACT

in this paper it is hypothesized that coseismic faulting caused the huge damage recorded by the San Benedetto tunnel during the October 30, 2016 earthquake in Central Italy. The results of the survey of the damage suffered within a short sector of the tunnel, coupled with both geological observations carried out at surface, and the available seismological data, strengthen this hypothesis.
