ABSTRACT

The concept of security is one of the core concepts in the study of International Relations. Traditionally, security analysis focused on the state security, viewing this security as a function of the levels of threats that states face from other states as well as the manner and effectiveness of state responses to such threats. The Internet evolved as an icon of digital age and more particularly of cyberspace. The elaboration of theoretical perspectives of cybersecurity is dealt in detail separately in the following pages. Due to great reliance on cyberspace in terms of networked systems and devices, the security of technologies vis-+á-vis cybersecurity is confronted with severe critical threats. Liberal theories are also helpful in understanding international efforts to promote cooperation among states on issues related to the cybersecurity, control over cyberspace, and cyber arms control. The peculiar nature of cyberspace demands the states to enact laws and establish institutions in order to curb cybercrime and cyber terrorism.
