ABSTRACT

Fatigue analysis is important to military vehicle since the vehicle is often driven under severe conditions. However, since almost parts of the vehicles are designed to withstand repeated loads over a long period of time in order to maintain their performance, lots of time and effort are required for fatigue analysis. So, replacing the actual test with simulation is preferred. In this paper, a 5/4ton military vehicle was used in experiment and simulation. A subframe, which is a lower part of chassis, was modeled to flexible body using commercial programs and it was applied to vehicle model to make a model for fatigue analysis. To verify the finite element model in static condition, a test was performed to lift the front part of the vehicle. Then, to secure the reliability of the vehicle model, bump pass test, sinusoidal road pass test, and rough road driving test was carried out. So, fatigue analysis was carried out through the reliable model.
