ABSTRACT

From the beginning of the exploitation of the Stajićevo Sluice, the occurrence of vibrations of the segment gate was noted. In some cases these vibrations were so strong that they passed on to the surrounding structures. In order to determine the causes of the occurrence of vibrations of the segment gate, a hydraulic model was made. This model did not simulate correlation between the construction elasticity of the segment gate and the surrounding mass of water. Therefore, the tests on the model were focused on determining the hydrodynamic load acting on its rigid structure (the vibrations were not of hydro elastic nature). In combination with a numerical model based on the author’s earlier research, the hydro elastic properties of the segment gate could be related to the results on the hydraulic model. By connecting these two models, a new approach has been proposed to prevent vibration emergence.
