ABSTRACT

The objective of the project is to develop and verify a FEM based approach for the analysis of concrete structures digitally fabricated by 3D extrusion. The paper proposes methods and approaches developed within the framework of a standard FEM analysis software. These involve mainly modelling of the construction process of the structure, time variable load and suitable nonlinear constitutive equations for times ranging from fresh to mature concrete conditions. A sample analysis at the end of this paper demonstrates performance and applicability of the developed model. It is simple for use and provides reasonably accurate results. The proposed methods will be used for the simulation of digitally printed structures to optimize the extrusion path and speed.
