ABSTRACT

This paper addresses the relevance of the materials in fashion design projects and the importance of the experimentation and the physical contact with textiles to increase the sensorial perception on their behavior. This investigation included the measuring of the samples’ drape index and a comparative analysis of products—the same prototype developed with different fabrics, subsequently transferred to plan view (two-dimensional plan). Tridimensional modeling techniques enabled the development of prototypes and the evaluation of both the process and the results. Thus, it is possible to conclude that different materials with singular characteristics can—in certain situations—be applied to design the same product.
