ABSTRACT

Several designs of value education have been implemented; however, the issues of characters have not been solved optimally. This article views that one of the alternative methods is by internalizing values through campus habituation as implemented by the Department of Civics Education, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, Indonesia. This study adopts a qualitative case study employing in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation study as its instruments. The results show that the Department of Civics Education, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia plays a strategic role in shaping its students’ characters. In relation to internalization method, the Department has used interventive and habituation approaches promoting three internalization methods comprising habituation, conditioning, and examples.
