ABSTRACT
The inter-ethnic conflict that occurred in West Kalimantan is a phenomenon that often occurs, involving people from different ethnic groups, religions and cultural traditions. Therefore, it is necessary to find the right and suitable solution to control this phenomenon, one of which is to elevate the values of local wisdom flourished among the community. In this study the author examined the importance of local wisdom values, especially the local wisdom of Pontianak Malay people which is going to be used as a conflict resolution. The purpose of this study is to identify and describe how the values of local wisdom of the Pontianak Malay as a civic culture used as a conflict resolution in strengthening unity and harmony by identifying, exploring, and reviewing the context of understanding, the transformation of the related local wisdom into a conflict resolution, as well as how effective the values contained in the related local wisdom could be used as a conflict resolution in strengthening unity and harmony. The study used an ethnographic approach with integrative concepts related to the values of the local wisdom of Pontianak Malay people as a civic culture which involves the life aspects of the Pontianak Malay people and turns out into a local wisdom value of the local Pontianak Malay community itself for conflict resolution in order to strengthen unity and harmony in the frame of the Republic of Indonesia.
