ABSTRACT

In this chapter, initially the status of higher education in Turkey is discussed based on various variables and indicators. In this context, the topics considered as priorities in higher education policies and practices with respect to the higher education, quality of manpower, development, national and international trends, and advances in higher education are addressed. An attempt was to include the concepts, principles, and strategies that would increase the contribution of the academic institutions to workforce planning in Turkey in particular and in the international scale in general based on the discussions mentioned above.
