ABSTRACT
A 15-month-old boy is brought to the emergency department for lesions to the trunk. The lesions seem mildly painful, and the child is rubbing and scratching them occasionally. His parents report the lesions appeared 48 hours ago and more lesions are appearing in the areas he has been scratching. The child has been well otherwise and there is no history of fever. He has no other medical problems and has never had these lesions before. There is no history of previous dermatologic conditions.
