ABSTRACT

A 15-year-old girl presents to the emergency department with left flank pain which has been present for the past few weeks. The patient describes the pain as a “constant aching” and increasing in severity recently. The pain is worse with deep inspirations and twisting movements. She denies any trauma and is not sexually active. She has no significant medical or surgical history. There are no reported fevers, night sweats, cough, vomiting, diarrhea, rashes, joint swelling, dysuria, vaginal bleeding, or discharge.
