ABSTRACT

An 18-month-old boy presents to the emergency department with his parents with abdominal distention and constipation. Parents report that the patient's abdomen looks larger than it did a few weeks ago. The patient has also not been stooling as regularly as he had been in the past. He has only stooled once this week. The patient's appetite has also decreased recently, but the mother is unsure if he has lost weight. Prior to this the patient had been doing very well. The birth history is unremarkable. There is no prior medical or surgical history. His immunizations are up to date. No reported fevers, vomiting, diarrhea, cough, or rash.
