ABSTRACT

A 7-year-old male presents with a chief complaint of left hip pain and “walking funny,” per the mother. Mom reports that he fell off his scooter last night and his left hip “twisted.” He complained to her of left hip and anterior thigh pain. He was able to bear weight but is “walking funny” due to pain. The child says he had hip pain before the fall but cannot specify how long—maybe a few days prior. There is no prior history of trauma; however, he is a very active child. Of note, his pediatrician started him on cephalexin 5 days earlier for infected bug bites. These are improving. He had a tactile temperature yesterday.
