ABSTRACT

A 3-week-old female is brought to the emergency department by her father because her “breasts are swollen and red.” The father states that he noticed the swelling about a week ago, but the patient looked well so he didn't think anything of it. However, for the past couple of days the swelling has increased, the skin turned red on the left nipple area, and the patient has been fussier than usual. Birth history is unremarkable. The patient has been growing well and feeding well. No fever or nipple discharge are reported.
