ABSTRACT

A novel method related to the artificial model of facial recognition based on Android OS mobile platform is presented in this chapter. The facial recognition system is retrieved from video; therefore, we are describing a model of facial recognition from video captured with a frontal mobile phone camera. The system has been developed with JAVA which is integrated on the mobile phone side where on client side it is realized by using Principle Component Analysis (PCA) and machine learning techniques. Hence, the system is implemented in the front end by using a reliable model for face recognition from video. In this chapter we will review the area of face recognition and will describe the application where the current technology has been used. The work on such models will enable higher biometric security not just on mobile phones, but in a wider spectrum. The significance of this model is that recognition has been done with frontal mobile camera with low resolution where the system has been trained artificially. The average overall accuracy achieved is 96.79%. The main aim of this work is to discuss the biometric security models. One of the objectives is to enable authentication methods via mobile phone for biometric identification. Since this is a complicated and sophisticated research topic, particularly with respect to its implementation and its applicability, it should be analyzed in many aspects. The principle is to ensure and raise the standard of cyber security as an integral part of national security. In order to improve the efficiency of security from cybercrime via face recognition, we will raise security to a higher level.
