ABSTRACT

Various volcanic ash ground layers are widely and complicatedly deposited in Hokkaido depending on the location. To effectively conduct aseismic reinforcement of pile foundation in volcanic ash ground, it is necessary to establish an evaluation method for classifying the area priority. In order to obtain the basic information for the above purpose, a series of centrifuge model tests on aseismic performance of pile foundations was conducted varying volcanic ash soil sedimentation condition. The test results have been comprehensively analyzed and discussed.
