ABSTRACT

A tentatively experimental campaign has been realized to study the effect of the freeze-thaw processes on the soil slope by centrifugal modelling. The heat transfer has been achieved by the heat-exchange plate at 30 xg and one of tests has paved with copper on model surface. During 600mins in model time, the output temperature of the heat-exchange plate is from –40~25°C. The temperature changes in models, frozen depth in freezing period as well as the deformation of measuring points on the slope surface are obtained. The results of the tests show the temperature changes on model surface are far less than that of heat-exchange plate. The heat transfer process and testing method of slope model are also discussed.
