ABSTRACT

With the development of the wind farms, a new type of foundation, piled beam-slab foundation, is invented to support wind turbines on land in the advantage of saving investment. Foundations for wind turbines are usually subject to loads combined of vertical loads, horizontal loads and moments. The behaviors of the foundation under vertical loads, horizontal loads and moments are designed separately in practice without considering the coupled effect of those loads for the coupled effect is unclear since now. In order to investigate the coupled effect of those load on piled beam-slab foundation, a series of model tests on behaviors of piled beam-slab foundation under vertical loads, horizontal loads and moments are carried out.
