ABSTRACT

While geotechnical centrifuges continued to grow in number and applications worldwide, centrifuge facilities started being developed in China in the 80s before reaching a flourishing period in recent years in number, size as well as simulation capacity. This paper introduces the past efforts put into geotechnical centrifuge development in China. The situation as it stands nowadays and plans for the future of Chinese Geotechnical Centrifuges are presented. Some of the auxiliary facilities for centrifuge model tests developed at the China Institute of Water Resource and Hydropower Research (IWHR) are also introduced.
