ABSTRACT

One of the biggest transformations caused by anthropogenic activities is alteration of the land surface, essentially, for food and shelter. Land change has evidently affected other natural resources on the surface of the Earth. Water resources are one of the most important natural resource whose increasingly vulnerability is partly attributed to the land use change. This entry discusses the general relationship between land use and land cover change and increasing vulnerability of water resources and highlights the present status with special focus on agricultural and urban land use.
