ABSTRACT

The world is a combination of people, who set out every day to fulfill their role in the society. Different people are entitled to perform different duties in their own workplaces. Professionals go to offices, children and youth go to educational institutions, farmers head to the fields and the list is endless. To increase the efficiency and make work easy for people, several modifications have been made in these workplaces. In a similar manner kitchen is a workplace for the homemakers and the elderly. Hence, it is necessary to study about the kitchen and make it comfortable to work in. It is necessary to avoid severe musculoskeletal loading on the human body especially for the elderly. This can aid in improving the health situations of the elderly to some extent. The basic aim of this study was to re-design an Indian kitchen using computer simulated models before manufacturing in such a way that it is easily accessible by the elderly.
