ABSTRACT

The rapid growth in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) has made it possible for virtual laboratories to be used as a substitute or supplement to the traditional laboratories. Virtual laboratory is an online learning system where students can access and perform their laboratory work on software applications which are virtually installed. Students don’t have to buy expensive software or go to physically established laboratory in odd hours. The key advantages of virtual laboratories are access anytime and anywhere. The main objectives of virtual laboratories are to keep laboratory maintenance simple, reduced manpower and reduced human related faults. In this paper, review of virtual laboratory is presented in the context of their objectives and benefits in modern education system.
