ABSTRACT
The chapter discusses the identification of growth retardation and assessment in a systematic way. The attending clinician is expected to differentiate proportionate and disproportionate short stature. The chapter also highlights the significance of a multidisciplinary approach and utilization of growth parameters and charts the evaluation of a short-statured child. Finally, the differentiation of pathologic, familial, and constitutional short stature is discussed in a comprehensive manner.
