ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the examination of a child presenting with birth brachial plexus palsy (BBPP). The examination of these children, especially newborns, is extremely difficult and is heavily dependent on keen observation skills. The chapter also describes the common clinical presentations, various scoring systems used for assessing recovery, and how clinical examination is relevant in decision-making regarding the timing of surgery. After reading the chapter, one should be able to examine and comprehensively assess a child presenting with BBPP.
