ABSTRACT

Stored thermal energy in thermal protective clothing exerted an important influence on thermal protective performance of the clothing. Some assessment methods and standards on thermal protective performance have been improved by considering the effect of thermal stored energy in thermal protective clothing. This chapter aims to introduce the development process of the fundamental methods of evaluating the heat transmission and discharge of stored thermal energy in thermal protective clothing, with the purpose of understanding the relationship between the heat transmission and stored thermal energy in thermal protective clothing. The effects of various factors on the heat transmission and stored thermal energy of thermal protective clothing are reviewed. This summary can provide some directions for future research and achieve a better understanding of transmitted and stored thermal energy in thermal protective clothing.
