ABSTRACT

This article views the industry of recreation as the basis of the economy of many developed and developing countries. This topic is relevant today because tourism is one of the fastest-growing industries in terms of both national and global economies. The rapid development and significant volumes of foreign exchange earnings actively influence various sectors of the economy and contributes to the development of tourist and recreational potential of the examined territories. The findings of this research in the field of tourism show that it has become not just a socioeconomic phenomenon but also a critical factor in the development of territories, regions and countries. Functional features of types and forms of tourism, such as mass character, profitability, creativity and innovation promote development of territories and increase their competitiveness. The main object of this article is the identification of key trends in tourism development on both national and international levels.
