ABSTRACT

This article examines the current trends in scientific research of the tourism economy. It is noted that the study of the influence of tourism on world and national economies, as well as the study of the features of ecotourism on mega-, macro-, and meso-levels is an important issue. The traditional direction is the study of the multiplicative effect of tourism and forecasting, the results of which are used in the formation of tourism policy. It was noted that the analysis of the impact of information and communication technologies and financial and economic crises on the tourism economy became topical. Current economic research is related to the introduction of blocking technology into the tourist business, which represents a fundamentally new economy of joint use. The introduction of blocking technology in the activities of online travel agencies, metasearch systems, GDS, and airlines can lead to changes in all business processes in tourism. Prospective directions are interdisciplinary studies of tourism economics and psychology, social psychology, sociology, and other sciences; the impact of globalization on the tourism economy; mergers and acquisitions in the tourist market; and the study of risks in tourism.
