ABSTRACT

PayTren is considered the first fintech to use the Shari’ah system. It should be understood that Islamic compliance is an absolute requirement for all financial institutions with the Shari’ah system. This study aimed to find out how users perceive Shari’ah compliance in PayTren applications. The population sample for the study consisted of PayTren application users. Sampling was conducted by means of a snowballing technique while data collection employed questionnaires and interviews (involving 62 respondents). The study utilized three variables: users, perceptions, and compliance with Shari’ah. These variables were equipped with indicators such as opinions; selection; views; motives; needs; experiences; freedom from the elements of usury, maisir, and gharar; limiting activities; risk sharing; the desirability of materiality (real economic transaction); and justice consideration. Users responded strongly in agreeing that the PayTren application has implemented the Shari’ah compliance system properly (acceptance percentage of 95.65%). The results show that users strongly agree that PayTren works as a system of Shari’ah compliance.
