ABSTRACT

The introduction of synthetic herbicides revolutionized weed control. However, the repeated use of herbicides led to the selection of herbicide-resistant weeds. The selection of resistant weeds reduces control options and may increase control costs. In many cases, the most effective and economical herbicide is lost because of resistance. Herbicide-resistant weeds are one of the major challenges in weed management. Although resistance presents a challenge, herbicide-resistant weeds can be controlled with herbicides with different sites of action or other methods of weed control.
