ABSTRACT

There are several potential industrial applications for carbon membranes – some of them are close to market, whereas others may be farther in the future. This is mainly dependent on the volume of gas streams and/or challenging process conditions. In this chapter, some future applications of carbon membranes for gas separation, such as CO2 capture from flue gas, olefin/paraffin separation in the petrochemical industry, and carbon membranes in an integrated photosynthetic process, are discussed.
