ABSTRACT

This chapter shows the importance of big data analysis and how it can be used in the traffic and road safety area to get improved decision-making. It explains the material and methods used. Once the data was collected it was necessary to understand the data types, which methods were most appropriate, and how the expected outcomes could be generated. The chapter also shows the regression models created and the generated expressions. It focuses on descriptive statistical analysis methods and regression modeling to analyze a dataset of traffic offenses. The main aim of this analysis was to understand the seasonal traffic violation patterns that explain the relationship between the offenses and the time of occurrence. The data classification was done according to the frequency types, and then the types were calculated. After that, the frequencies were sorted according to the date and time of occurrence before creating regression models.
