ABSTRACT

The analysis of particle crushing effect on the bearing capacity of strip footing is the main focus of this paper. Firstly, an elastoplastic constitutive model exhibiting particle crushing is developed by extending the critical state theory with the evolution of particle size distribution. Then, the performance of the proposed model is validated by experimental results. Finally, the Finite element analysis of the bearing capacity of strip footing is performed using the proposed model to study the bearing capacity of strip footing on crushable soil.
