ABSTRACT

In dynamic soil structure interaction modelling, one of the main difficult comes from treating the far field effects by finite elements. This paper presents the formulation and implementation of a direct infinite element for simulating far-field problems in time domain. The procedure is based on infinite element method using the direct scheme with viscous boundary in layer form absorbing. Under dynamic loading with a non-vanishing time average, correlation of the obtained results shows good performance for the new procedure using explicit as well as implicit integration schemes in time domain.
