ABSTRACT

The center extraction of a stripe is an essential problem for the development of a structured light 3D measurement system. To obtain the center coordinates efficiently and accurately, a two-step method is proposed. Firstly, the grayscale degradation of a stripe image, which is caused by the curvature and reflectivity of the measured object, is eliminated by a grayscale adjustment method based on projecting another two uniform gray images. Then, a new self-adaptive threshold method is proposed based on the evaluation of the stripe asymmetry, and combined with the gray centroid method, the stripe centers are extracted. Experimental results demonstrate that the grayscale adjustment and center extraction method in this paper are effective and reliable.
