ABSTRACT
XL – 800 WF fiber transmission multi-function laser processing system is used to irradiate stainless steel plate with pulse, which does not form melting spots after the steel plate is solidified. In this paper, the diameter of the laser spot is calculated based on the size of the circular channel of the spot. The forming mechanism of the shape of the fused spot spherical cap was explained from the condition of non-spontaneous nucleation. On the basis of experiments, relevant data are sorted out, the wetting angle of the melting spot is calculated, and the conclusion that the work of non-spontaneous nucleation is far less than that of spontaneous nucleation is obtained.
