ABSTRACT

In Ultra High Pressure Vessel (UHPV), Tooth-Locked Quick-Actuating (TLQA) seal device is often applied as top end closure to satisfy the requirements on ultra high pressure and frequent quick open-and-close operation. The structural parameters of TLQA end closure determined based on analysis or simulation are theoretical values, which are usually used in the previous works. However, in reality, these parameters may not satisfy the requirements of engineering application enough. In this paper, Digital Image Correlation (DIC) method was used to measure deformation field of tooth-locked end closure flange of UHPV for food processing. The basic principle of in-plane displacement measurement by DIC method was briefly given. The full-field displacement and strain distribution of tooth-locked end closure flange were computed under different internal pressure levels. Experimental results reveal that DIC method can be applied to practical full-field deformation measurement of TLQA seal device.
