ABSTRACT

In this paper, an optical phase shifter based on a Polarization-Maintaining Fiber Bragg Grating (PMFBG) with continuously tunable phase shift independent of the optical wavelength drifting is proposed, which has been demonstrated by using the nonlinear birefringence effects in the PMFBG. A 360° phase shifter at 10 GHz is demonstrated by tuning the input optical power or the polarization angle of the polarization controller.
